Although as is the case every year, injuries have taken their toll on the Pro Bowl lineup, this year’s honor roll of top talent includes legendary Peyton Manning in a celebration of his return to the game after a neck injury closed the book on his chapter as an Indianapolis Colt.
This Sunday, Manning will share quarterback duties with the man drafted to replace him: Andrew Luck. While it may be difficult to get a handle on the NFL odds for the interconference battle, the uncertainty is what makes it so compelling.
Filling the starting slots at running back will be Arian Foster for the AFC and Adrian Peterson in the NFC. Meanwhile, the NFC’s top wideout threats, Calvin Johnson and Brandon Marshall, will sit out with injury, replaced by Julio Jones and Victor Cruz.
Defensively some of the same juggernauts that kept their own NFL clubs atop the Super Bowl futures all season long will meet. J.J. Watt, Cameron Wake and Geno Atkins, for example, will join an AFC defensive unit capable of inducing nightmares.
