Denver D May Be Catching Jaguars at Right Time
By Charles Jay
NFL betting customers at Lucky99 may have seen or heard some of the reports out of Jacksonville Jaguars camp. They surround the rather rocky start head coach Urban Meyer has had with the Jaguars.
There had to be an adjustment period as he has come into the NFL. And it’s amazing that there are already rumors that he may fly the coop, with the USC job recently opening.
That is part of the backdrop as the Jags play host to the Denver Broncos in a game that kicks off at 1 PM ET at AllTel Stadium.

Broncos vs.Jags: So what’s Meyer’s problem?
The reports are that there has been a dictatorial nature about Meyer. And while that is the kind of thing that might work at the collegiate level, it’s not generally what works when dealing with professionals.
He has had a habit of taking control of drills, where that might usually be delegated to assistants. He has also dressed down his assistants in front of the players. All of this has served to alienate both coaches and players.
And he withdrew from talking to the media this past week, which was described by some as “bush league.” Then, when he was asked about the USC job that had opened up after the firing of Clay Helton, he kind of half-heartedly responded that he was committed to the process of bringing the Jags to respectability.
Meanwhile, this is a team that has lost 16 games in a row.
Broncos vs.Jags: Last week’s shellacking not expected
Jacksonville was favored last week against the Houston Texans, who were considered the worst team in the NFL. But they were overwhelmed, trailing 27-7 at the half and losing 37-21. Trevor Lawrence, the #1 overall draft pick, put the ball in the air 51 times and tossed three interceptions.
There were a certain number of people who were expecting that the Jaguars would make some noise. And there is a certain amount of pulling back on that forecast.

Broncos vs.Jags: Denver looked A-OK last week
The Broncos picked up a victory on the road in their opener, beating the Giants 27-13. What was most notable about it was that Teddy Bridgewater, who had won the quarterback battle over Drew Lock, “managed” the game very well and then some, with 264 yards through the air.
Melvin Gordon also had 101 rushing yards for Denver, and that included a 70-yard touchdown run. The Bronco defense held Saquon Barkley to 26 yards on ten carries.
Broncos vs.Jags: More about that Denver defense, and our conclusion
The Broncos figured to be more of a puzzle to opposing offenses this season with former Super Bowl MVP Von Miller coming back healthy to the lineup. They did a fair enough job against the Giants in the opener, although they did allow New York to convert six of 12 on third down.
The thing you have to know about Denver coach Vic Fangio is that he can cause all kinds of confusion on the part of young quarterbacks. So he is going to throw some stuff at Lawrence that he hasn’t seen before. Bradley Chubb is listed as questionable (ankle injury), which means he’ll probably play and team with Miller. And that means Lawrence is going to be facing a fierce pass rush from both sides.
As long as Bridgewater can hold down the mistakes, this game is winnable by double digits. As such, we feel comfortable laying the points.
