Raptors Look to Even Series With Bucks Tonight
The Toronto Raptors look to even the Eastern Conference Finals at home tonight. This game follows an emotional double-overtime victory over the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 3 on Sunday night. Canada’s team will need to build on the momentum gained going into Game 4.
TV: 8:30 p.m. ET, TNT, TSN (Toronto) LINE: Bucks -3; O/U: 217.5.
Despite the Raptors controlling the scoreboard for most of Game 3, they were unable to put away a determined Bucks team. The Bucks hung around until the final whistle in the second overtime. Milwaukee’s superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo struggled on Sunday. He shot just 5-for-16 from the floor for a mere 12 points. The Greek Freak will look to inflict more damage on tonight. This game could prove to be a pivotal should the Bucks manage to steal one at Scotiabank Arena. Toronto will rely on Kawhi Leonard, Pascal Siakam, and Kyle Lowry, as they have been all season long. They will still need their supporting cast of Marc Gasol, Danny Green, Norm Powell, to step up. The Raptors desperately need to hold serve here to stick around in this series.
This, That, and a Dart Throw
Kawhi Leonard scored 36 points while playing 52 minutes in the 118-112 Double-Overtime win. He had to limp through the two overtimes as he helped keep his club in the mix for its first-ever NBA Finals appearance. Leonard was assigned to defend Bucks star power forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, and he delivered. He held him to just 12 points on 5-of-16 shooting and caused him to commit eight turnovers before fouling out.
Milwaukee was close to taking a 3-0 series lead but couldn’t pull it off. The poor offensive outing by Antetokounmpo helped keep the club out of that position. He did have 23 rebounds, so all was not bad. Guard George Hill continued his strong postseason play with 24 points of 7-of-9 shooting. He has reached double digits in six of the past seven games. SF Khris Middleton (10.7 average in the series) and PG Eric Bledsoe (9.3) each were just 3-of-16 shooting in Game 3. Brogdon scored 20 points in Game 3 and is averaging 16.3 in the series.
Toronto appears to know they have to ride Leonard to have any chance of winning the series. The soon-to-be free agent indicated his body was sore after his career-high, 52-minute outing. “It’s 52 minutes, and it’s the playoffs, so you definitely feel it,” Leonard told reporters. “When you play 30 minutes, you feel it still. Just got to not worry about it and get my treatment and move on to the next one.” Pascal Siakam had 25 points and 11 rebounds. Marc Gasol pitched in 16 points, 12 rebounds, and five blocked shots. Swingman Norman Powell provided 19 points in 30 minutes off the bench. PG Fred VanVleet was 1-of-11 shooting in Game 3 and is just 7-of-44 over the last 10 games.
The Dart Throw: Raptors 102, Bucks 97
