Blue Devils and Tigers Meet in a Quality Early Season Matchup
The fans at Lahaina Civic Center will the 8th-ranked Auburn Tigers and the Top-ranked Duke Blue Devils when they take their seats on Tuesday night. Both teams advanced after playing great games in the opening round of the Maui Invitational.

Duke appears to have the horses to win its sixth national championship as play continues in the Maui Invitational. Duke routed San Diego State 90-64 on Monday behind 20 points from freshman forward R.J. Barrett. He is averaging a team-high 24 points per game. Freshman forward Zion Williamson is averaging 22.3 ppg and played only seven minutes in the first half because of foul trouble.
Duke is 16-0 in the
Maui Invitational and tries to extend its tournament record to six titles. They have won the tournament in 1992, 1997, 2001, 2007 and 2011.

Tigers defeated Xavier 88-79 in overtime Monday behind Bryce Brown’s season-high 26 points. Brown scores 16.8 points per game and is part of a balanced attack that features five players averaging in double figures.
Junior guard Jared Harper recorded 25 points, eight assists and six rebounds versus Xavier. He averages a team bests of 17.5 points and 7.5 assists.
Sophomore forward Chuma Okeke chips in 13.8 ppg and grabs a club-high 8.3 rebounds. He had 13 points and seven boards Monday. Junior guard Samir Doughty (11.8) and junior center Austin Wiley (11.3) also average double-figure points. Doughty was held to two points in 31 minutes against Xavier.
Auburn has committed 47 turnovers this season and have only forced 80 by their opponents.
Duke’s Williamson managed to manufacture 13 points, six rebounds and five of the Blue Devils’ seven steals against San Diego State.
Freshman forward Cam Reddish scored 16 points Monday and averages 16.5 ppg. Freshman guard Tre Jones added 14. Jack White, a junior forward from Australia, is averaging 9.3 points and 7.3 rebounds off the bench. He contributed 12 and eight versus San Diego State.
Duke is 80-57 against fellow top 10 foes under coach Mike Krzyzewski.
Auburn and Duke have not met since 1981 with the Blue Devils winning all three meetings (also 1975, 1963).
