The 2022 NIT Tournament Adds to the March Madness
By Charles Jay
The NIT has turned exciting as well. The Vanderbilt Commodores have sixteen losses, but when you’re competing in the rugged SEC, it’s very difficult to stand out. But they can do just that if they keep advancing in the NIT. For them to do that, they will have to beat an opponent that is rather rough-and-tumble themselves, as they take on the Xavier Musketeers at 9 PM ET on Tuesday at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati. BetAnySports is right on top of things during March Madness, as they offer reduced juice on all the games, regardless of which tournament it is. And then, after the game begins, you have the opportunity to wager in real-time, using a number of fascinating options.

March Madness Betting — About the Xavier Musketeers
Xavier comes into the game with a record of 20-13, and they have a number of significant wins, taking the measure of Ohio State, Virginia tech, Oklahoma State. Marquette, Creighton and UConn. However, they lost five out of six games as they entered the NIT. After beating Cleveland State 72-68, they overwhelmed Florida 72-56. That win came despite them missing 16 of 20 triples and committing 18 turnovers.
Their head coach, Travis Steele, was fired before the post-season, and the university took the liberty of announcing that Sean Miller, their former coach who went to Arizona and got caught up in the play-for-pay scandal, would be returning next season. Assistant Jonas Hayes has taken things over on the bench for the time being.
March Madness Betting — Vanderbilt Commodores
Vanderbilt (19-16) did battle in the SEC, which has now become a very powerful Division I conference, and they scored wins over Alabama (twice) and Arkansas. They registered a dramatic 70-68 overtime win over Dayton on Saturday. Center Liam Robbins saved the game with a big block at the end, but the night more or less belonged to Scottie Pippen Jr. (yes, son of the Hall of Famer), who had 32 points and seven assists.
The Commodores are coached by former NBA All-Star (and North Carolina great) Jerry Stackhouse. At present, they are on a run where they’ve covered twelve of their last 15 games.
March Madness Betting — What’s our verdict?
Both of these teams have seven-footers to throw at their opponents. We already mentioned Robbins; Xavier has Jack Nunge, who is a shot-blocker who also makes 63% from the field.
If it comes down to who is going to be a rougher team from long range, well, 46% of Vandy field goal attempts are triples, and the ‘Dores have also held their foes to just 30% beyond the arc. This won’t be an easy assignment.
Had Xavier not made so many mistakes, there’s no telling how many points Xavier may have beaten Florida by. If this was a big impost, Vandy’s three-point ability might mean more, but the Musketeers appear to be the team more likely to get the easy baskets. So we’ll lay the small number with them.
