NFL Week 16 Preview Pick: Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles
The NFL Playoffs start early in the NFC East with a crucial showdown between the 7-7 Washington Redskins and the 6-8 Philadelphia Eagles this Saturday night at Lincoln Financial Field. BetAnySports opened Philadelphia as a 3.5-point home favorite and the betting odds for the total was set at 47. The current BAS' line currently shows the Eagles as a 3-point home favorite while the total has risen to 47.5.
This is a "win and you are in" scenario for the Redskins, who opened-up a one game lead in this tight division race with back-to-back victories against Chicago on the road and Buffalo at home as underdogs in both contests. The total went OVER in both games and it has now gone OVER in six of their last nine games. Washington has been able to cover against the spread in four of its last six games.
With Kirk Cousins at the helm, the Redskins needed some late-game heroics to beat Philadelphia 23-20 as three-point home underdogs in the first meeting this season on Oct. 4. The four-year veteran is coming off one of his best outings of the year after torching the Bills for 319 passing yards and four touchdown passes in a game that was basically over at halftime. On the year, Cousins has thrown for 3,625 yards and 22 touchdowns while completing an efficient 69.7 percent of his 482 attempts.
The Eagles are coming off a lopsided 40-17 loss to Arizona on Sunday night as 3.5-point home underdogs on BetAnySports' closing NFL odds. Despite falling to 6-8 both SU and ATS on the year, they still control their own destiny in the NFC East title race. A win on Saturday night along with a victory next Sunday on the road against New York would lock-up a second division title in Chip Kelly's three seasons as the team's head coach.
The problem is Philadelphia has been one of the hardest teams in the NFL to figure out this year. Heading into the game against Arizona it was coming off back-to-back victories against New England on the road and Buffalo at home, but this followed a pair of losses to Tampa Bay and Detroit by a combined score of 90-31. If the Eagles play to their ability on both sides of the ball, they should be able to sweep these final two games to claim the division crown, but that becomes a mighty big “if†to bet on.
I am going with BetAnySports Line of 3 points (get the 3.5 if you can) and the Redskins in what should be a very close game either way.
