Irwin Tools Night Race Preview
- The drivers of the Sprint Cup Series will compete under the lights at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday night as they return to action in the Irwin Tools Night Race.
Jeff Gordon held off Kevin Harvick last time out to earn himself a trip to Victory Lane in the Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway.
Joey Logano, Paul Menard, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Clint Bowyer, Denny Hamlin, Brad Keselowski, Jimmie Johnson, and Greg Biffle followed Gordon and Harvick across the finish line at Michigan.
Gordon now has a three-point lead on Earnhardt Jr. atop the Sprint Cup Series driver standings, with Keselowski 83 points back in third place. Logano, Matt Kenseth, Harvick, Johnson, Carl Edwards, Ryan Newman, and Bowyer also sit in the current Top 10 of the standings.
Kenseth won the Irwin Tools Night Race last year, with Kasey Kahne, Juan Montoya, Brian Vickers, and Logano following him across the finish line. Edwards was the winner of the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway in March.
After racing at Bristol the drivers of the Sprint Cup Series will head to Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Oral-B USA 500 on August 31. The circuit's September calendar then offers up races at Richmond, Chicagoland, New Hampshire, and Dover.
