BetAnySports’ NFL Week 4 Pick of the Week -- St. Louis Rams at Arizona Cardinals –Sunday, Oct. 4

Current BAS' Line: Cardinals -7 and the total is at 43 1/2

In a key matchup in the NFC West at University of Phoenix Stadium, the 1-2 St. Louis Rams square-off against the 3-0 Arizona Cardinals this Sunday afternoon in a late 4:25 p.m. (ET) start on FOX. BetAnySports has opened the Cardinals as seven-point home favorites and the total for this game has been set at 42.5.

The Rams looked like they were going to make some noise in the division this season with a 34-31 overtime victory against Seattle as 3.5-point home underdogs on opening day, but since then they have hardly managed a whimper in back-to-back losses to Washington and Pittsburgh. In those losses, St. Louis only managed to score a combined 16 point to help keep the total UNDER in both of those games.

Nick Foles is now the starting quarterback in St. Louis and while he has thrown for 644 yards and two scores, the offense as a whole has been basically nonexistent in its last two games. The Rams are ranked near the bottom of the league in both passing and rushing yards per game and you can easily see why given their inability to put points on the board since that Week 1 win.

The Cardinals on the other hand are flying high following this past Sunday’s 47-7 romp against San Francisco as seven-point home favorites. They are out of the gate fast with a 3-0 start both straight-up and against the spread with the total going OVER in all three games on BetAnySports’ closing NFL betting odds.

Arizona has veteran quarterback Carson Palmer back in the fold after an injury-plagued 2014 season and he has made the most of the opportunity with 803 yards passing and nine touchdown throws behind a solid completion rate of 63.6 percent. Chris Johnson has been a welcomed addition with 219 rushing yards on 52 carries and Larry Fitzgerald has been lighting things up with 23 receptions for 333 yards and five scores.

The Rams are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall and they are 2-6 ATS in their last eight road games against Arizona. The total has stayed UNDER in 10 of the last 14 meetings. I do not see the total staying UNDER this time around as Arizona may be able to put up 43 points on their own, but my top pick is to lay BetAnySports’ seven points with a play on the Cardinals to win and cover at home.
