- The drivers of the Sprint Cup Series will be tackling a road course on Sunday afternoon as they race in the Cheez-It 355 at The Glen at Watkins Glen International.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. paid a visit to Victory Lane last time out, taking the checkered flag in the GoBowling.com 400 at Pocono Raceway.
Kevin Harvick, Joey Logano, Clint Bowyer, and Greg Biffle rounded out the top five drivers at Pocono Raceway, with Jeff Gordon, Jamie McMurray, Ryan Newman, Denny Hamlin, and Kasey Kahne making up the rest of the Top 10.
Gordon’s lead on Earnhardt Jr. in the Sprint Cup Series driver standings is now down to 17 points, with Brad Keselowski sitting 70 points behind in third place after ending up in 23rd place at the GoBowling.com 400.
Kyle Busch was the champion at the Cheez-It 355 at The Glen last season, beating Keselowski, Martin Truex Jr., Carl Edwards, and Juan Montoya across the finish line. Marcos Ambrose won the race at Watkins Glen in both 2011 and 2012.
After racing at Watkins Glen the drivers of the Sprint Cup Series will move on to Michigan for the Pure Michigan 400 on August 17. The circuit’s August schedule also includes events at both Bristol (August 23) and Atlanta (August 31).
