BetAnySports’ NBA Tuesday Pick of the Day For April 14th
Toronto Raptors vs. Boston Celtics
The Toronto Raptors will play their final road game of the regular season this Tuesday night with a trip to TD Garden to square-off against the Boston Celtics in an Atlantic Division clash. BetAnySports opened the Celtics as four-point home favorites and the NBA betting odds for the total have been set at 208. The line has since moved to Toronto as a 1-point favorite and the total is now at 208 1/2.
Toronto already has a firm grip on the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference at 48-32 straight-up on the year (37-42-1 against the spread). Given the fact that it has long since clinched the division title you would have to question how motivated this team will be on Tuesday night. The Raptors are coming off a 107-104 victory against Miami this past Saturday as 3.5-point underdogs on the road. The total went OVER BetAnySports’ closing 198.5-point line in that game and it has gone OVER in four of their last six games.
The 107 points against the Heat raised Toronto’s scoring average to 106.3 points over its last six games. On the year, the Raptors are ranked fourth in the NBA in scoring with 104.3 PPG. DeMar DeRozan has been a force all season long with an average of 20.1 PPG and against Miami he scored 24 points to help pace the win. The continuing concern for this team is on the other end of the court with a defense that is allowing 101.2 PPG.
The Celtics come into this division showdown with six victories in their last seven games both SU and ATS, but at 38-42 SU (47-33 ATS) they have yet to clinch a playoff spot in the East with just two games left to go. They are coming off a home-and-home sweep of Cleveland this past weekend both SU and ATS aided by the fact that the Cavaliers decided to rest many of their starters including LeBron James. The total stayed UNDER in both of those wins after going OVER in five of Boston’s previous six games.
Boston has also been lighting up the scoreboard over its last seven games with an average of 109 PPG verse a season average of 101.4 points that is ranked 12th in the NBA. In Sunday’s 117-78 romp over the Cavs as 10.5-point home favorites, the Celtics boasted seven players in double digits. Avery Bradley and Jared Sullinger continue to lead the way on offense with a combined 27.4 PPG this season.
Boston obviously needs this game far more than Toronto and the Celtics’ current form only adds to their edge in Tuesday night’s matchup. The Raptors have the 2-1 edge both SU and ATS in the season series, but bank on Boston to even things up with a SU win that covers BetAnySports’ current spread and win as a outright underdog.
