Game 1- Houston Rockets vs. Golden State Warriors
The NBA’s Western Conference Finals get underway this Tuesday night with Game 1 of a best-of-seven showdown between the No. 2 Houston Rockets and the No. 1 Golden State Warriors in a 9 p.m. (ET) start at ORACLE Arena. BetAnySports has listed the Warriors as 10-point home favorites with the betting odds on the total set at 219.
The Rockets needed a huge three-game rally against the Los Angeles Clippers to advance to the conference finals for the first time since 1997. They lost three of the first four games in that matchup by a combined 74 points, but with the series on the line, Houston posted three double-digit victories over the Clippers as an underdog in all three games. The total went OVER in the first six games of that series before staying UNDER the closing 219.5-point line in Sunday’s 113-100 clinching win in which the Rockets closed as two-point home underdogs.
Just as he has done all season long, James Harden carried his team to victory with a 31-point performance in Sunday’s win. He is averaging 26.7 points in the playoffs as the team’s leading scorer followed by Dwight Howard’s 17.2 PPG. The Rockets are averaging 111.4 points and 47.3 rebounds a game, which are both the highest totals of any of the four teams still left in these playoffs.
Golden State closed-out the regular season with 16 straight-up wins in its last 18 games. In the opening round of the playoffs, it went on to eliminate New Orleans in four games to advance to the conference semifinals. The Grizzlies stunned the Warriors with back-to-back victories in Game’s 2 and 3, but Golden State quickly returned to form with three-straight double-digit wins to end that series in six games. It is now 5-2 ATS in its last seven postseason games and the total has stayed UNDER in seven of its last nine games.
Stephen Curry continues to lead the way for the Warriors with an average of 28.2 PPG and he is hitting 41.1 percent of his 11.3 three-point attempts a game. Klay Thompson is second on the team in scoring with 20.7 PPG. Golden State led the NBA this season with an average of 110 points, but it has been held to 102.2 points through its first 10 postseason contests.
While there may be some road wear on Houston heading into Tuesday night after its extended battle to get past Los Angeles, I still like the Rockets’ chances to cover in Game 1 with the 10 points on BetAnySports’ NBA betting odds for this game.
