Kentucky Looks to Fend off Auburn and stay in 1st Place
Coming your way on Saturday in college basketball is a matchup of SEC powerhouse programs when the No. 15 Auburn Tigers go on the road to take on the No. 8 Kentucky Wildcats.
These two teams have been quietly dominating their schedules this season, with a combined total of only nine losses between the two schools.
TIME: 3:45 p.m. ET. TV: CBS; LINE: Kentucky -6.5; O/U: 139.5
Kentucky is in first place in the SEC standings while Auburn is right behind them in second. They both tend to breakdown their opponents with incredible guard play.
This game was one of the most exciting of the entire season when they matched up against each other at the beginning of February, so we are expecting more of the same on Kentucky’s home court.
It feels like Kentucky has always been involved in these types of big games, but lately, Auburn has been challenging their throne for the SEC crown.
Both teams are incredibly talented of both sides of the ball and could easily make a run at the SEC Championship or even for a national title.
Regardless of how you view these teams, it should be an incredibly fun matchup in Rupp Arena.
Guard Matchup for Kentucky and Auburn Pivotal
The most intriguing matchup on the floor in my eyes is Auburn’s senior guard Samir Doughty against Kentucky’s sophomore guard Immanuel Quickley.
Both guards lead their rosters in scoring at around 16 points per game. These two players can get hot easily and put any defense on their heels for 40 minutes of basketball.
Kentucky also has some other guards that contribute to their success. Tyrese Maxey and Ashton Hagans both average double digits in scoring, and the trio they make with Quickley is the reason why they are the best team in the SEC.
On Auburn’s side, behind Samir Doughty in scoring is forward Isaac Okoro. Okoro is a great slasher and attacks the basket relentlessly.
Holding down the paint for the Tigers is center Austin Wiley. Wiley can be the X-factor for this game as Kentucky doesn’t have too many players on their roster that can match his strength.
Wiley stands at 6-11 and 260 pounds. He is a senior leader for this group and really the heart and soul for this Auburn Program.
Averaging nearly a double-double at 10 and 9, Wiley can take over games with hustle plays, rebounding and alley-oop dunks.
He really is one of the main reasons that this Auburn team has fared so well. Nick Richards of Kentucky will be the one matching up with him down low, so he will have to be ready for a battle.

This, That and a College Basketball Dart Throw
In their first matchup this season, Kentucky lost by a score of 75-66. It was a disappointing showing by the Wildcats, but they can redeem themselves at home for this one.
Our friends over at VietBet have Kentucky favored in this game at -6.5 and the total is at 139.5. All U.S. players are accepted at VietBet.
With as good as both of these two teams are and how crazy this college basketball season has been, really anything can happen in this game.
I think Kentucky has found motivation in the second half of this season, and I believe they are ready to step up and make a run at the SEC Championship.
This team is complete in all areas of the ball, and they are coming off of big wins last week against LSU and Florida.
Even though the SEC has not been the strongest conference this season, I think Kentucky is one of the best teams in the country, and the precedent their program has set is second to none.
Take Kentucky in this matchup to win a close game at home.
