2013 NBA Basketball Betting – Games On Tuesday, January 8
Game 1: Miami Heat @ Indiana Pacers – Tuesday, January 8
Line: Heat -2 and the total is 187
No college football betting expert can predict the entirety of the season before it starts, and few NBA experts could have imagined that this game would become as attractive as it now is. Indiana looked like an unholy mess at the very beginning of its season, stumbling out of the gate with a losing record after two weeks and inspiring very little confidence about its ability to regroup. Indiana did not have star player Danny Granger in its lineup due to injury, and Granger still won’t rejoin the Pacers until February at the earliest. You would think that in a game with Granger on the sidelines, the defending world champions should be able to have their way with Indiana. However, the Heat have looked mediocre over the past week, losing to two of Indiana’s Central Division competitors, Detroit and Milwaukee, on consecutive nights. The Heat have not been a good road team over the past week, squeezing out a two-point overtime win in Orlando on Dec. 31 to avoid a three-game losing skid. Moreover, Miami took on a not-very-good Dallas team this past Wednesday night and – at home – needed overtime to outlast the Mavericks. The Heat are in the midst of a rut. Indiana will treat this game as a playoff game, showcasing maximum intensity on every possession. Miami will not match Indiana’s energy, and that’s why an underdog such as the Pacers can take this game. Pick Indiana here – it’s a good spot for the Pacers.
NBA Basketball Betting Pick: Indiana
Game 2: Phoenix Suns @ Milwaukee Bucks – Tuesday, January 8
Line: Bucks -6 1/2 and the total is 199
When people make a bet on sports, they know that they might feel compelled to join in the betting rush on games such as this one. Online football betting gurus know that defense wins games in the cold of January, and NBA commentators know that the Phoenix Suns, without Steve Nash, have precious little offense to overcome their tissue-thin defense. The Suns just don’t have a formidable assemblage of athletes to bring to the Bradley Center in Milwaukee against the Bucks.
Phoenix’s offense is a modest one, averaging just over 97 points. However, that total doesn’t mean much when one realizes that the Western Conference features several teams averaging over 100 points per contest. Phoenix needs more firepower on offense, but it lacks that dimension without Nash, who is now a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. Phoenix’s offense allows over 101 points per game, a terrible number for a team with the Suns’ pronounced offensive limitations. Milwaukee should be able to win this game quite comfortably.
NBA Basketball Betting Pick: Milwaukee
Game 3: Los Angeles Lakers @ Houston Rockets – Tuesday, January 8
Line: Rockets -8 and the total is 221 1/2
When you go over your facts and prepare to make a play at any of the best betting sites around, keep in mind that the Rockets beat the Lakers at home earlier in the season. Also realize that Houston beat the New York Knicks on the road in December and shelled the 19-win Atlanta Hawks this past Monday by 19 points. Houston is in a groove right now and playing at home. The Rockets look like a solid choice against the Lakers, who have been better in recent weeks but have still not figured out how to win on the road.
